Connecting Students and Seniors Across Canada

SAGE is fostering friendship, understanding, and support between students and seniors through every call, visit, and event.

About Us

SAGE (Student Association for Geriatric Empowerment) is a student-led nonprofit that connects university volunteers with seniors and healthcare workers to foster empathy, friendship, and community.

Founded in 2020 at the University of Toronto during the COVID-19 pandemic, SAGE began with virtual Companion Calls that pair volunteers with seniors for weekly phone calls. It has since grown into a Canada-wide initiative offering in-person visits, creative workshops, and educational events. Through its chapters, SAGE continues to bridge generations, reduce isolation, and empower students to make meaningful contributions to the lives of older adults.
